I am starting to make music using Albleton Live with a Mac Powerbook. I want to record my voice too and I know I need some sort of interface. The prices and what I can get vary so much. Any suggestions?

I need your expertise!

I've been referring to my band as "Electronic Rock" (with a spanking good beat). Some fans say we sound alot like Berlin (or Curve, or Erasure - depends who you ask). Meanwhile, I can't seem to find a genre that we definitively fall into. Maybe there isn't one - but I'd like to get a bit closer than that.

If some of you fabulous musicians and music lover types would do me the enormous favor of listening to one or two tracks and helping me to pinpoint this, I would be quite grateful! There are two places you can listen to my stuff free right now - www.cuirbleu.com/html/music.html and www.cdbaby.com/cuirbleu. Thank you for helping out!

HARD CHICKS needs female rock musicians

thanks for reading - my name is Greg. info about me at myspace.com/gregsdesignx

due to lack of communication, lack of experience amongst the girls, and conflicting schedules my band Chicas Duras (HARD CHICKS) dis-banded today - so heres the deal:

I would prefer a female bassist, drummer, and guitarist that have a live visual element to them (ex. sexy, rocker, goth, punk...)and that has the equipment required to play small venues.

The immediate goal is getting this set tight and booking alot of rock/dive bars and playing out. This is for fun, but there is a level of commitment and professionalism required. No drama.

Here is our current set list: (ALL VERY HARD, HEAVY, INDUSTRIALIZED AT TIMES VERSIONS) if pop is your style it probably wont work - the band has a heavy and aggressive sound (we will be doing predominantly 80s pop covers in this style - its a cool sounding project! - very original)

You spin me - Dead or Alive (Orgy version)
Girl U Want - Devo
Zero - Smashing Pumpkins
Candy-o - The Cars
Psycho Killer - Talking Heads
Take it off - The Donnas
Cars - Gary Numan
Hazy Shade of Winter - The Bangles
Push It - Salt n Pepa
Call Me - Blondie
Word up - Cameo (Korn version)
Breed - Nirvana
I Ran - Flock of Seagulls

please forward to anyone that you know that may be interested - THANKS!!!!!!!!!!

I started this tribe in the hopes that we'll have a spot on Tribes to network, exchange ideas, and help one another through the music-making process. I am in the process of getting a certificate in music production, and feel so alone! In Pro Tools, Cubase, and other production classes, I am usually the only woman. Sigh.

I haven't had a chance to go to any of their workshops (busy in school) but I met some of the women in WAM at the AES convention this year and it sounds like a great organization. If anyone out there has attended their workshops please let me know how they were.

Women's Audio Mission is an all volunteer, women-run organization dedicated to the advancement of women in the recording arts. In a field where women professionals are historically under-represented, WAM seeks to create an environment that will encourage and enable the aspirations of women in the recording arts, and, in turn expand the vision and voice of media and popular culture. We provide access to audio technology, and training in its use to record sound for music, radio, film, television and the internet for women and girls.
